Bury North MP, James Daly has resigned from his position as Parliamentary Private Secretary at the Department of Work & Pensions.
Mr Daly added that he no longer has confidence in the Prime Minister.
He becomes the 42nd departure from the government in the last 24 hours.
This was the second PPS role he held, previously being at the Ministry of Justice.
Daly's statement read: "It is with great regret that I write to resign as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Ministerial Team at the Department for Work and Pensions.
"Due to recent events, it has become very clear that you are sadly unable to lead our Government and deliver on the policies that will change lives for the better and create opportunity for all.
"Can I thank you for your service to our country and for the opportunity you gave me as a Parliamentary Private Secretary.
"As a result of the above, I have lost confidence in your leadership of our great party and therefore as outlined above I must resign."
