Star-studded comedy night to honour Rochdale music legacy and raise funds for JAMM

A packed line-up of top comedians is heading to Littleborough this July as part of a community fundraiser in memory of local musician Johnny Alfrey.

A high-profile comedy night will take place in Littleborough next weekend to raise money for JAMM, the Johnny Alfrey Music Memorial, a grassroots charity celebrating local talent and community arts.

Backed by Rochdale’s new mayor Janet Elmsley as one of her official charities for the year, JAMM has become a leading force in Rochdale’s creative scene, offering young musicians and performers a platform while keeping the late Johnny Alfrey’s legacy alive.

On Saturday 5 July, JAMM will host a Comedy Fundraiser in partnership with Ace Lips Comedy at The Coach House in Littleborough. The event kicks off at 8pm and features a strong comedy line-up with national talent.

Comedian Big Lou, known for his quick wit and warm stage presence, will compere the evening. He’ll be joined by Alex Boardman, a long-time favourite on the UK comedy circuit whose down-to-earth observational style has earned him critical acclaim.

Also on the bill is musical comic Alex Camp, who brings energy and originality to the stage, and Daliso Chaponda,

best known as a Britain’s Got Talent finalist, whose international reputation for sharp punchlines and clever storytelling promises a showstopper performance.

Tickets are on sale now at £12 for early bird bookings or £15 standard, with all proceeds going directly to JAMM. Funds will support the charity’s mission to provide opportunities for Rochdale’s emerging creative talent and promote inclusive access to music and performance.

The charity was launched following the death of local musician Johnny Alfrey and has steadily grown into a recognised platform for arts events across the borough. In May, it hosted a successful music festival featuring local bands, solo acts and special guests.

Saturday’s comedy night is set to build on that momentum.

The Coach House venue, on Lodge Street in Littleborough (OL15 9AE), has already seen strong ticket sales, and organisers are urging residents to book early.
