Emmerdale actor and former Revolution 96.2 Presenter set to headline bar’s new event series
Jeff Hordley, best known for his role as Cain Dingle in ITV’s Emmerdale, will be spinning vinyl at The Garden Bar in Chorlton on Friday 28 November as part of the venue’s new guest DJ series. Entry to the event is free, with music starting from 8.30pm until late.
The special set will be dedicated to Hordley’s late friend and fellow DJ Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield, bassist of The Stone Roses, who previously co-hosted a radio show with him on Oldham’s Revolution 96.2 alongside Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets) and Mike Joyce (The Smiths).
“I’ll be dedicating the night to Mani,” Hordley said. “He was such a legend and a lovely soul.”
The actor, originally from Oldham, is no stranger to Manchester’s nightlife. Long before his soap stardom, he held regular DJ slots at Manchester’s former Rock n Roll Bar (now South), and has since become a familiar name behind the decks at Chorlton events like Bop Local, Electrik’s one-deck sessions and Fusion.
“DJing has always been important to me,” Hordley said. “It’s something I did long before acting took over, and it’s still one of my favourite ways to connect with people through music. I’m really looking forward to being back behind the decks in Chorlton. I’ve got a real soft spot for the area and it’s always had such a brilliant energy.”
Hordley promises a mix of indie, northern soul, funk and some unexpected favourites from his personal collection.
The Garden Bar, formerly known as The Font, recently reopened under new family ownership and has quickly become a hub for live music, comedy and food. Its new guest DJ series aims to feature familiar faces alongside local talent.
Bar manager Jess Anderson said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Jeff join us and bring some of his personal record collection. He’s someone with genuine roots in Manchester’s music scene, and it feels like a real privilege to have him launch our DJ series.”
