Excitement is building across Rochdale as Rochdale AFC prepare for their biggest match of the season – an FA Trophy semi-final showdown against Spennymoor Town.
The match, taking place on Saturday 6 April at the Crown Oil Arena, will see Jimmy McNulty’s side just one win away from a coveted place at Wembley Stadium.
Support for the club has surged throughout the week, with fans of all ages rallying behind The Dale in the build-up to the fixture. To further boost morale, the club will be giving out Dale scarves, flags and balloons to help create a carnival atmosphere in the stands.
Council leader Councillor Neil Emmott has added his voice to the chorus of encouragement, sharing his hopes for a memorable win on home soil.
He said:
“I want to wish Jimmy McNulty’s side all the very best of luck in this weekend’s FA Trophy semi-final against Spennymoor Town.
I have everything crossed for the team and everyone at the council is hoping they can book their place in the final so local supporters can enjoy a fantastic day out at Wembley Stadium – Up The Dale!”
Manager Jimmy McNulty, reflecting on the club’s run in the competition, spoke of the unity and energy it has brought to the players and fans alike.
“We’re really excited, it’s a big occasion. We’ve earned the right to give it our best.
We’ve come a long way in the trophy. It’s brought an energy, the boys have thrived off it, the fans have.
Saturday will be really difficult. When it comes to a semi-final, league positions and form all go out the window.
I want us all to unite in the stadium and enjoy the fact we are in a semi-final of a trophy to get to Wembley – we haven’t been in that position for a long, long time, so let’s go!”
