Greater Manchester Police welcomes Manchester Pride Festival 2024 to the city centre

This weekend (Friday 23 – Monday 26) we’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of people to the city centre for the return of Manchester Pride Festival, Greater Manchester Police are on hand to support the event and ensure everyone can celebrate in style, safely.

Superintendent Nicola Williams, from our City of Manchester division, said: “This weekend sees the return of the annual Manchester Pride event and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to our friendly and inclusive city.

"Pride weekend is a time of celebration, education, and embracing diversity, and our officers will be in attendance to ensure everyone can enjoy the event safely.

"We facilitate largescale operations week in, week out, across Manchester and with our partners, we are well rehearsed in running events like this.

"You will likely see additional officers in the city centre this weekend. I hope their presence will be a reassuring one for many, they are there to support you so if you have any concerns please speak to them.

"We're expecting a busy weekend so if you’re attending, please remember to have fun, stay safe, and look out for each other."

We will not tolerate violence, anti-social behaviour or hate crime. If you witness such an incident, or if you see or hear something that doesn’t feel right, please report it to a steward or police officer or call 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
