Middleton Arena came alive this afternoon, Sunday, 13 July, as young performers from across the borough took to the stage for the Rochdale Music Service’s Summer Sizzler concert.
The concert, featured school bands, theatre students, guitar groups and percussion ensembles, all showcasing the talent and energy of Rochdale’s children and young people.
One of the highlights was a playful twist on “The 12 Days of Summer”, complete with flip flops, dolphins and seagulls, which had the whole crowd laughing and clapping along.
Councillor Rachel Massey, who attended the event, called it “an inspiring afternoon” and praised everyone involved. “This concert was a reminder of what happens when we support young people and give them the freedom to be creative,” she said.
She also encouraged families to explore what the Music Service has to offer: “If your child is curious about music, I’d recommend getting involved. Today’s performers showed just how far a little encouragement can go.”
The Rochdale Music Service works year-round with local schools and families to nurture musical skills and confidence in young people.
