A TEN-year-old footballer celebrated her birthday by dribbling a football 10 miles over Easter to raise money for a new equipment for her team.
Eden Ashworth plays for Rochdale AFC Ladies under 10’s and the Mayor of Rochdale Councillor Janet Emsley was so impressed with Eden’s achievement, she presented her with a Mayoral Appreciation Award.
Eden’s mum Kimberley, from Whitworth, said:
“Eden completed a dribbling football challenge for her 10th Birthday.
She raised £500 and the money is going to support her football team to help purchase equipment and general costs. We are so proud of Eden.”
Eden is not the only local footballer to be raising money, as Whitworth Valley Football Club under 8’s team, managed by Callum Whitehead, did a sponsored fancy dress walk around Whitworth to raise money for the team.
