Weapons and nitrous oxide seized in Rochdale business unit raid

A warrant executed by the Rochdale North Neighbourhood team has led to the seizure of dangerous weapons and controlled substances from a commercial unit in the town centre.

Officers raided the premises on Dane Street at 10.30am on Wednesday 12 November as part of an intelligence-led operation. The search uncovered 291 large nitrous oxide canisters, now classified as Class C drugs, along with a collection of weapons including a crossbow, 13 baseball bats, a hockey stick and 7 knuckle dusters.

Additional items seized from the site included seven burner-style Nokia phones, ballistic body armour and multiple cannabis grinders.

Police say the search was conducted under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, and no arrests have been made at this stage. Investigations are continuing to trace the owner of the business and those linked to the premises.

Sergeant Daniel Shirazi of Greater Manchester Police said:

“This operation demonstrates just how effective warrants are in disrupting criminal activity. By acting on intelligence and executing targeted searches, we can remove harmful substances and dangerous weapons from circulation before they can be used to cause harm.

“The seized items will undergo forensic examination. The proprietor of the business remains outstanding, and enquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest those responsible.

“Public safety is our priority, and we will continue to act decisively against those who pose a risk to our communities.”

The raid is part of wider efforts by GMP to dismantle organised networks and remove potential threats to the public. Officers are urging anyone with information to contact police directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
