Drivers are being urged to keep within the speed limit and make Bury’s roads a safer place for all.
The problem with speeding cars was one of the main concerns raised by residents during a recent Bury Council consultation on community safety.
New reminder signs are now being installed at 35 locations across the borough after councillors were asked to identify roads in their wards where residents have reported speeding concerns.
Councillor Kevin Peel, deputy cabinet member for the environment, said: “Road signs by themselves will not stop irresponsible people from driving too fast, but they help to remind motorists of the speed limits in the area and to think about how fast they are driving.
“We want our roads to be safe places for everyone, and this issue is something which is frequently raised on the doorstep across the borough.
“I know that the police have stepped up traffic enforcement, including a recent day of action on Walmersley Road in Bury. By working together, we can make a difference.”
