Credit: Lisa Marie Rawlinson

Police and Paramedics attend Bell Street in Rochdale this afternoon, Friday 29th March, following calls to a report of a fight next to the former Wheatsheaf shopping centre.

Social media has been rife following the incident, with speculation that this was a stabbing in the town centre.

A man has been taken to hospital with a head injury after reports of a fight breaking out; speaking to an eyewitness at the scene this afternoon they said, "All of a sudden we saw a flurry of police cars and ambulances descend" she also continued to say "you could see what looked to be blood on the pavement where it happened. Hopefully, the man is ok, and it isn't too serious".

Speaking to GMP, a spokesperson said:

At around 1.50pm on Friday 29 March 2024, officers were called to reports of a fight on Bell Street, Rochdale.

A man has been taken to hospital with an injury to his head.

No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.
