A support worker and a registered nurse who were employed at a mental health facility in Prestwich have been charged with multiple counts of ill-treatment against vulnerable patients.
Two care professionals formerly employed at The Edenfield Centre in Prestwich have been charged in connection with alleged mistreatment of patients, following a police investigation launched in 2022.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that 43-year-old Sheryl Price, a support worker from Eldergreen Close, Bolton, faces 14 counts of ill-treatment against four individuals. Nurse Sara Coleman, aged 43, of Mitford Street, Stretford, has been charged with five counts, also relating to four victims.
Both individuals have been bailed and are scheduled to appear before Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 25 March 2026.
The investigation was prompted by a series of allegations uncovered through a period of undercover filming at the Edenfield Centre, a secure NHS mental health unit.
Detective Inspector Julie Adams from GMP’s Bury district said:
“Since 2022, we have been actively investigating several allegations relating to The Edenfield Centre, following a period of undercover filming at the mental health unit.
“We have now charged two suspects in relation to this, and they will appear at court in the new year.
“Since this incident was brought to our attention, we have been working with partner agencies to ensure that patients were safeguarded and to investigate criminality.”
GMP has encouraged anyone with concerns about care they or a family member may have received at The Edenfield Centre to contact the force directly or through Crimestoppers.
The Edenfield Centre is part of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, which faced scrutiny following previous whistleblower reports and media investigations highlighting allegations of mistreatment.
