Services between Rochdale town centre and Rochdale railway station have restarted with delays, after emergency crews blocked the tracks earlier this morning
Trams were halted in Rochdale this morning, Monday 12 May, following an incident that required the emergency services to block part of the Metrolink line.
The disruption, which affected the stretch between Rochdale town centre and Rochdale railway station, left passengers temporarily without service on the line.
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) confirmed that emergency crews were attending the scene and were obstructing the tram tracks. A spokesperson for the Bee Network posted on X:
"Due to emergency services blocking our tracks, we currently have no trams operating between Rochdale Town Centre and Rochdale Train Station. Passengers can use their tickets on 471 Bee Network bus services."
At 10.10am, Inrix traffic monitoring service reported that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service crews were at the location and physically blocking the tram line. No further details about the nature of the incident have yet been released.
By 10.14am, the service was resumed, although with minor delays reported on the line.
Emergency services have been approached for comment and updates are expected throughout the day.
Passengers are advised to continue checking Metrolink updates for live service information.
