Three men have been arrested on suspicion of going equipped after officers stopped a vehicle and recovered suspected theft equipment in Royton.
Greater Manchester Police officers carried out a proactive stop at around 2.35am on Wednesday 9 April on Rochdale Road in Royton, Oldham.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found a number of items including balaclavas, winches, jamming equipment and false number plates.
Three men aged 37, 41 and 42 were arrested on suspicion of going equipped. They remain in custody for questioning.
Police confirmed the recovered items will be examined as part of ongoing enquiries.
The arrests form part of wider work by officers in Oldham to tackle burglary, vehicle crime and robbery. This includes proactive patrols, early morning warrants and preventative activity within communities.
Detective Inspector Kelly Paterson from Greater Manchester Police said “This was a great piece of work by officers early this morning, who were able to secure three arrests and potentially prevent any crime from occurring.
“We are of course investigating all of the circumstances, but this work forms part of our commitment to tackling criminals who would seek to disrupt the lives of the law abiding public.
“If anyone has any information with regards to criminality in their area, I would urge them to contact us directly, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.”
