Families turned out in droves for a sun and showers weekend as Prestwich Carnival returned for its 2025 celebration, with music, floats, and community spirit taking centre stage.
Prestwich Carnival 2025 brought the community together over the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June, drawing thousands to the streets and St Mary’s Park despite mixed weather.
Sunday’s colourful parade was the main event, with vibrant floats and performers winding through the town to loud cheers from spectators lining the streets. The procession culminated at the park, where an afternoon of live music, family entertainment, and traditional fairground attractions unfolded.
This year's parade winners included Rockfit (Best Float), Creative Living Centre (Best Community Spirit), and 3rd Scouts Davyhulme Band (Best Music). Dance Studio 1 took the title of Best Community Group, while 1st Lancs Mohawks were recognised for their enthusiastic participation.
The carnival is a long running tradition and one of Prestwich’s key summer fixtures, with the 2025 edition featuring everything from donkey rides to live performances. Organisers hailed the energy and community involvement, praising residents for embracing the event despite unpredictable weather conditions.
A spokesperson for the organising committee said: “We’re so thankful for another amazing Prestwich Carnival. Our volunteers, sponsors and community really made this year special. We’ll be sending out our full thank yous, and plenty of photos, soon. The committee is just having a quick nap first!”
Sponsors included the National Lottery Community Fund, Parklife Community Fund, Tesco Prestwich, Joseph Holt, Muse, Rudy’s, and David Wallis Funfairs, among others.
The event, planned and run by a small local team, will return in 2026.
