A suspicious item has been deemed safe by police in Bury town centre.
Knowsley Street in Bury was closed for around an hour this afternoon as emergency services investigated reports of a suspicious item.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were earlier today (Tuesday 6 June) alerted to reports a suspicious item in Knowsley Street, Bury.
"We can confirm that the item was assessed and confirmed as non-suspicious.
"As a standard precaution, a cordon was put in place and some nearby roads were closed.
"Local officers would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation."
The road re-opened at around 3pm, with bus services resuming normal routes.
