A series of short-term road closures will take place in Rochdale borough this week as part of the council’s latest surface dressing programme.
From tomorrow, Tuesday, 12 August, to Thursday, 14 August, contractors will carry out repair and improvement works on several major routes. The affected roads are:
- Wardle Road, Pennines – from Princess Avenue to Ramsden Road roundabout
- Sandy Lane, Rochdale – from Wilbutts Lane to Bury Road
- Manchester Road, Heywood – from Middleton Road to Bader Drive
- Hollin Lane, Middleton – from Oaken Bank Road to Hazelhurst Drive
- Manchester Road, Castleton – from Trows Lane to Sautridge Close
- Queensway, Castleton – from Cowm Top Lane to Albion Street
- Oldham Road, Rochdale – from Thornham Lane to Ash Grove
While closures are required to complete the works, the council says each one should only last a few hours before the road reopens. Around a week later, crews will return to apply a follow-up treatment, which could involve another short closure.
Residents in the affected areas have been sent letters with full details, and notices have been placed on street lights to warn motorists in advance.
The scheme forms part of the borough’s wider highways maintenance programme, which also benefits from recent national funding to tackle potholes and improve road quality.
