Local Summerseat Pubs’ Hamers Arms and The Footballers Inn joined together last week to celebrate His Majesty The King’s Coronation, throwing a jubilant street party for Summerseat and Holcombe Brook residents.
Joined by local Councillor Liam Dean, Bury North MP James Daly and hundreds of local residents, Landlords Lisa Moore and Wayne Lindo treated partiers to a fun-filled afternoon.
Local children were encouraged to get in the celebration spirit, creating and designing their own crowns – in homage to the coronation of Their Majesties.
Landlord of Hamers Arms, Lisa Moore told said: “We wanted to bring our community together at this really special time. It’s something we’ll all remember for the rest of our lives and we wanted to help our neighbours celebrate – and I’m pleased how well attended it was!”
The event was also used to raise funds for St Ann's Hospice, in memory of local Summerseat resident Hazel Wilcock who died in 2021 following an explosion at her house in the village. The charity was chosen by customers who attended on the day.
Festivities also included a “Great Summerseat Bake Off” competition, judged by local Councillor Dean and Wayne Lindo.
Commenting Cllr Dean said “It’s actually a real treat not only just to be here – but to judge the fantastic bake off competition! Every entry was brilliant and I think I’ve put on weight after having to try them all! We were pleased to name a very deserving winner which has formed only part of a brilliant event put on by two great local businesses”
Joining the festivities was local MP James Daly saying “I think this whole event has been a fantastic success, it’s brought our community together on a momentous occasion. I’ve brought my mum along who’s having a great time – it’s brilliant to see our community together celebrating”
