A major police investigation is under way following a crash on the M62 near Rochdale that left a young woman in a serious condition in hospital.
Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a black Nissan Micra collided with another vehicle late on Sunday night, 6 July. The incident occurred at around 10.15pm on the westbound carriageway between junctions 22 and 21.
The female driver of the Micra, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Her condition has been described as serious, but no further updates have been released.
A female passenger in the same vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The male driver of a blue BMW, which was also involved, remained at the scene and did not require medical treatment.
No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
The westbound carriageway of the M62 remained closed for several hours overnight while forensic officers carried out enquiries, causing delays for motorists travelling through the area.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage is urged to contact GMP’s SCIU on 0161 856 4741, quoting incident number 3468 of 6 July 2025. Reports can also be submitted via the LiveChat function on the GMP website or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
