Singing competition winner 12-year-old Logan Law is hoping to turn his passion into a career after achieving an incredible 98 per cent in his latest exam.
The Whitworth Community High School student has been singing for five years and attends Samba Dance and Fitness where he takes singing lessons.
He said: “I have won a place in the National Gala Competition for the last two years. Last year I came second, but this year, on October 19, I got first. I was up against six other singers.
“I performed ‘I Won’t Let You Go’ by James Morrison. The song I picked is one that I have been singing it for a while and I think I sang it quite well. This is a song that means a lot to me due to its powerful lyrics and emotion.
At Queen Elizabeth Hall in Oldham, he was announced the National Champion for age 12-13 and awarded a trophy, medal and £75.
Logan said: “I was buzzing when I got the trophy as National Champion. I want to be a singer and I am also a guitarist. It's a moment I'll always remember and one that motivates me to dream even bigger.
“I have always been into music since I was in Year 3 and then I found out that Samba also did singing lessons. The money I won will go towards more lessons. I love singing to an audience, but I don’t like singing in groups.
“I wouldn't have even had this opportunity if it wasn't for Samba Dance and Fitness, but especially my singing teacher, Leah Fisher, who encourages me to be the best I can be. I'll be forever grateful for all she does to help me succeed in something that I love.”
He has also competed in the Strictly MT, Musical Theatre, singing competition at Queen Elizabeth Hall when he was second twice and won once and Logan sings in Samba’s summer shows at The Ashworth in Whitworth.
Logan added: “I am trying to get as much singing experience as I can.”
