Rochdale’s annual Safeguarding Adults Week returns online with the theme of the week the subject of creating safer cultures.
Running from 15-21 November, the focus will be on sharing key safeguarding information for practitioners working with vulnerable adults and residents across the borough of Rochdale. The week will also provide a key opportunity for public and practitioners to engage in a variety of key adult safeguarding themes and to highlight help and support available locally. Themes include information on how to stay safe online, safeguarding mental wellbeing, information to prevent self-neglect, and how to protect people from adult grooming. Everyone will be reminded of the Safeguarding Adults Board’s role, in helping to create safer cultures through the multi-agency procedures and policies it has in place for practitioners, volunteers, services and partner agencies in the borough. In addition, there will recognition of individuals and teams for their continued work to support and protect adults at risk from abuse and harm. Amanda Clarke, the independent chair of Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Adults Board, said: “It’s always important to remind people that safeguarding is our collective responsibility and really is everyone’s business. The week’s theme of creating safer cultures cuts across a number of important areas and we hope the daily topics can start conversations, raise awareness and make our residents safer. If anyone has any safeguarding concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch and your concerns will be looked into immediately.” Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, cabinet member for adult care, said: ““This is an important event for the borough. We can all play our part in creating safer cultures and looking out for each other. The week will help raise awareness around a number of important safeguarding themes, building on our range of partnership work to protect and support vulnerable adults in the borough. I am sure it will be another successful and interesting Safeguarding Adults Week.” Further information about Safeguarding Adults Week, including available resources, can be found at www.rbsab.org.uk Anyone wishing to report a safeguarding concern in the borough of Rochdale should ring 0300 303 8886 or email adult.care@rochdale.gov.uk
