A man from Rochdale has been charged with murder following a stabbing in Oldham town centre last Saturday.
Rudi Cardoso, aged 31, of Alma Street, was arrested in the Ipswich area of Suffolk in the early hours of Sunday (29th May) before being brought to a Greater Manchester custody site, where he has since remained for questioning.
He has been charged with one count of murder and has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The male that was fatally stabbed has now been formally identified as Paulo Da Silva (pictured).
Da Silva, aged 48, suffered serious injuries before dying on arrival at hospital following a reported stabbing on Union Street at around 4.20 am.
His family has been kept updated as the investigation progresses, and specially-trained officers are continuing to do all they can to support them at this time.
