A Rochdale man already awaiting trial over multiple child sexual offences has now been charged with eight further crimes, Greater Manchester Police has confirmed.
Detectives investigating non recent child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Rochdale have charged Tahir Rashid, 54, of Hudsons Walk, with additional offences under Operation Lytton. The new charges include rape and indecent assault involving a girl under the age of 16.
Rashid is currently in custody and awaiting trial this September over 13 existing charges, which include rape and penetrative sexual activity with girls under 16. These original charges were brought in May 2023.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed Rashid was postal charged with the eight new offences on Wednesday 26 June 2025. He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 23 July 2025.
