Restore Britain has selected campaigner and NHS worker Marlon West as its candidate for the Greater Manchester mayoral by-election.
The announcement was made by the party's leader, Rupert Lowe.
Mr West, who was born and raised in Greater Manchester, has worked across the NHS in the region for more than 30 years.
He is widely known for campaigning on issues relating to child sexual exploitation and safeguarding. According to Restore Britain, he spent more than two years campaigning for a national inquiry into grooming gang offences and met senior politicians as part of that work.
Restore Britain also said Mr West played a role in its recent independent inquiry into grooming gang abuse alongside campaigner Sammy Woodhouse.
Announcing the candidacy, Mr Lowe said Mr West's personal experiences had informed his commitment to supporting victims and campaigning for change.
Mr West will contest the election on a wider platform that includes attracting business investment to Greater Manchester, reducing public spending within regional government structures, protecting greenfield land and improving transport services across the city region.
Mr Lowe said, "Marlon is born and bred in Greater Manchester and has worked in the NHS across the region for over 30 years."
He added, "A good man who wants a better future for his home."
The Greater Manchester mayoral by election is expected to attract candidates from several political parties and political movements seeking to lead the city region.
