Across Remembrance Sunday (10th) and Armistice Day (11th November) events are taking place throughout Bury to remember those who have fought and sacrificed for our country.
Remembering and giving thanks this year to those who gave their lives and took part in D-Day as 2024 marks the 80thanniversary of D-Day landings in June 1944, an offensive which ultimately led to the end of World War Two.
Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for communities and inclusion, said: “Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day hold a special place in all our hearts, as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country’s freedom. Bury is a proud borough filled with a rich military history that we continually work to support, remember and celebrate. I am looking forward to seeing our armed forces community across Bury over this weekend and on Armistice Day.”
