The swimming pool at Ramsbottom Pool and Fitness Centre will shut for up to four weeks later this month to allow essential repairs to window lintels, the council has announced.
Bury Council has confirmed the temporary closure of the Ramsbottom pool from Friday 23 February to allow “urgent” structural repairs. The gym will remain open and unaffected throughout the works.
A spokesperson for Bury Leisure said bookings for gym sessions can still be made online or via the self-service kiosk at the centre. Swim bookings are being redirected to the Castle Leisure Centre in Bury during the disruption.
Children’s swimming lessons are also being relocated, with Bury Leisure promising to contact affected families directly to arrange alternative times and days.
Club bookings have not been overlooked. Teams using the Ramsbottom pool for regular training or sessions will also be offered temporary alternatives at Castle Leisure Centre.
Councillor Tamoor Tariq, Bury Council’s cabinet member for adult care and health, said the decision had not been taken lightly.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause,” he said. “These works are essential for health and safety reasons. We will endeavour to keep members informed as the work progresses.”
Customers are advised to check the Bury Leisure website for updates and alternative booking options during the closure period.
