More than 9 out of 10 parents will be sending their child to their first choice of local primary school come the autumn.
And 99% have been offered a place for their child at one of their three preferred choice schools.
Emails are today being sent to all parents who applied online, and letters sent to other applicants.
Councillor Lucy Smith, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “It is great news that so many parents are getting a place for their child at their choice of school.
“Parents who are happy with their child’s school are essential in giving their young sons and daughters the best possible start on their formal education path.”
Reception Allocations September 2025
We received 1,970 applications from Bury residents, and all Bury children have been allocated a school place.
Places have been allocated as follows:
1st preference offers – 1,866 (94.7%, up from 93.4% last year)
2nd preference offers – 72 (3.7%, down from 4.8%)
3rd preference offers – 13 (0.7%, up from 0.6%)
Only 19 (0.9%) applications could not be offered a school of preference, and have been offered an alternative school. Last year’s figure was 25 (1.2%).
