Police dog Eddie sniffs out offenders following attempted burglary in Rochdale

A police dog sniffed out offenders following an attempted burglary in Rochdale

At around 1.05am today (25 October) police received a report of an attempted burglary at a property on Fairlands Street in the Balderstone area of the town.

Enquiries established that two males had entered a property before being disturbed by the occupants and fleeing the scene.

The males were pursued by officers and one was swiftly detained nearby.

Following an area search by divisional officers and Police dog Eddie, two further males were arrested within 30 minutes in Balderstone Park. One of the males was also found to be in possession of a machete and a knife.

Three teenagers, aged 14, 16 and 18, were all arrested on suspicion of burglary. The 14-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. They all remain in custody for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing.
