A major emergency operation is underway in Rochdale this evening following a serious crash involving multiple vehicles on Drake Street.
Police, paramedics and air ambulance crews rushed to the junction of Milkstone Road and Drake Street earlier this evening (Wednesday 5 June) following reports of a serious collision.
Witnesses at the scene reported a crash involving at least two vehicles. Images from the scene show multiple damaged cars within a large cordoned area, while Serious Collision Unit officers were seen conducting investigations.
The air ambulance landed on Broadfield Park shortly after the incident, while a number of road ambulances also attended. Police vehicles with blue lights were seen arriving swiftly, and a large cordon has since been extended to include nearby Vicar’s Drive.
Drake Street and the surrounding junction remain closed in both directions, with traffic severely disrupted through the town centre. Emergency crews continue to work at the scene, and members of the public are being advised to avoid the area.
Greater Manchester Police have not yet issued a statement. Roch Valley Radio has approached the force for further details.
