A local Rochdale based investment firm, R17 hosted a delegation from Japan to mark deepening ties between Osaka and the region on Friday, 4 July, following a major UK government trade mission.
R17 Investments hosted a cultural and business-focused event at its headquarters on Friday 4 July to honour the sister city relationship between Osaka and Greater Manchester. The gathering built on the momentum from last month’s trade mission, which was led by the Department for Business and Trade.
Two of R17’s portfolio companies, Sealip and Vesipro, were spotlighted for their continued engagement in the partnership. Vesipro’s Japanese client travelled to the UK to attend the event, highlighting the growing appeal of Greater Manchester as a destination for cross-border collaboration.
R17 Investments said the event was a celebration of international cooperation, showcasing the region's strength in innovation and global connectivity. They thanked local supporters, including Liz Collier and Councillor Janet Emsley, the Mayor of Rochdale, for contributing to the success of the event.
The Osaka-Greater Manchester relationship was formalised in 2022 as a sister city arrangement focused on innovation, life sciences, and net zero development. It is supported by both local authorities and central government departments to boost exports, investment and collaboration between the two regions.
