A specialist school in Chadderton that supports vulnerable young people has successfully passed an unannounced inspection by the Joint Council for Qualifications.
Inspectors visited Chances Mentoring during a live GCSE English Language examination and found the school met all required national standards.
Chances Mentoring, a specialist school and alternative provision in Chadderton, received a positive inspection outcome following an unannounced visit by the Joint Council for Qualifications on 21 May.
The inspection took place during a live AQA GCSE English Language examination and assessed the school’s arrangements for the security, delivery and administration of examinations.
According to the inspection findings, the school met all national requirements relating to examination procedures and compliance.
Inspectors confirmed that live examination materials were being securely managed, mandatory warning notices were correctly displayed and invigilator training had been completed in advance of the examination period on 11 and 12 May.
The report also highlighted examples of good practice across the school. Inspectors made a small number of administrative recommendations, including relocating a delivery log to the main reception area to further improve operational processes.
Callum Siddall, proprietor of Chances Mentoring, said: “Our students often come to us needing a fresh start and they deserve an exam environment that is completely bulletproof. This perfect score proves to our young people, their families and our partners that we deliver the absolute highest standards when it matters most.”
The Joint Council for Qualifications Centre Inspection Service monitors examination standards across the United Kingdom on behalf of awarding organisations including AQA, CCEA and WJEC.
Positive inspection outcomes are particularly important for specialist schools and alternative provision settings, helping to ensure pupils receive valid and nationally recognised qualifications.
