Police are calling on the public for information after a 62-year-old man was attacked near Middleton cemetery earlier this month
An investigation is underway after a man in his sixties was assaulted and knocked unconscious near a roundabout in Middleton earlier this month.
Greater Manchester Police were called around 8.30pm on Tuesday 6 May to reports of an assault at the junction between Green Lane and Stanycliffe Lane, close to Middleton cemetery.
Initial enquiries suggest that the victim, a 62-year-old man, was approached from behind and attacked without warning. He lost consciousness during the assault and was then subjected to verbal abuse by the unidentified offender.
The man was taken to hospital with injuries described as minor and not life-changing, but the impact of the incident has prompted a public appeal.
Officers are urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious on Green Lane or Stanycliffe Lane around the time of the incident to come forward.
They are particularly keen to speak to anyone with dashcam footage or local CCTV which may have captured the assault or the movements of a suspect.
Information can be provided by calling 101 and quoting log number 3339 of 06/05/2025. Alternatively, witnesses can remain anonymous by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
