Greater Manchester Police say the third of five homecoming Oasis concerts in Manchester passed without serious disruption, as officers prepare for a busy final weekend
The third and only mid-week Oasis concert took place on Wednesday 16 July without any major public safety issues, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.
While the event concluded without serious incident, officers made 12 arrests involving men aged between 22 and 55. Offences included fraud (four arrests), assault (two), possession of class A drugs (two), and single arrests for theft, being drunk and disorderly, assaulting an emergency worker, and a public order offence.
The gig marked the midpoint of the band’s five-night homecoming series, with final performances scheduled for this coming weekend, on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July. GMP say they will maintain their high-visibility presence and continue working closely with event organisers and partners including Manchester City Council and the Bee Network.
A Section 34 Dispersal Order was in effect throughout the evening and will be reassessed ahead of the final shows. The order empowers officers to direct individuals to leave a designated area and not return for up to 48 hours in order to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Assistant Chief Constable Matt Boyle praised concertgoers for mostly responsible behaviour.
“We are now three concerts into Oasis’ Manchester homecoming, and I am pleased that the overwhelming majority of people attending have enjoyed themselves sensibly and responsibly,” he said.
“Officers have been visible across the site and surrounding area throughout the night, supporting event security, seizing unauthorised drones, stopping unlawful entry attempts, and assisting the ambulance service where needed.”
GMP also engaged with local residents living near the venue, aiming to address concerns and offer support where possible.
“We advise all visitors coming to the weekend shows to check updates from us and our partners,” ACC Boyle added. “If you need help, speak to an officer. We're here to support everyone involved.”
