Police have confirmed the arrest of a man following a serious crash at a bus stop in Wardle that left two people in hospital with fractured limbs.
The incident happened just after 2pm on Sunday 4 January on Wardle Road, near the junction with Halifax Road. A car collided with a bus stop, injuring a man and a woman at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police said the driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Emergency services including police, paramedics, and fire crews responded quickly. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said the two victims suffered serious injuries, understood to be broken limbs, and were taken to hospital.

GMFRS confirmed that crews from Rochdale Community Fire Station were on site for around 40 minutes to assist with casualty care and make the area safe.
The crash took place during a period of severe weather across Rochdale, which had already caused disruption to travel and roads. Police have asked anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage to get in touch.
