A man is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from a bridge in Heywood.
Police were called to Queens Park Road in Heywood at around 7:30am this morning.
Officers attended to engage with the male, but he fell from the bridge shortly after.
He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical condition.
A GMP spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7.30am this morning (Sunday 31 October) police were called over concerns for the welfare of a man on Queens Park Bridge in Heywood, Rochdale.”
“Officers attended to engage with the man but he fell from the bridge a short time later.
“Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
Queens Park Road remains closed in both directions between Bury & Rochdale Old Road and Queens Park.
TfGM are asking the public to avoid the area and use an alternative route via Bamford Road.
