A man who was struck by a car while walking his dog along Hollin Lane, Rochdale, on 31 October has sadly died in hospital.
Shortly before 9.15 pm on Sunday 31 October, officers responded to reports of a collision between a blue BMW 320 and a 35-year-old pedestrian walking his dog on Hollin Lane.
The car failed to remain at the scene following the incident.
Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, he sadly passed away in hospital on Saturday.
A blue BMW 320 was later recovered in the Heywood area and a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or those who were in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage is asked to contact the police.
PC Andrew Sheldrick, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a terrible incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.
"We are continuing our enquiries and hopeful that there were witnesses who may have information about the collision that could prove a great help with our investigation.
"We are particularly keen to speak to people who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage in the vicinity of Hollin Lane in the lead-up or directly after the incident."
