Man charged with firearm and driving offences after Heywood police pursuit

A man has been charged with firearm and driving offences following a police pursuit in Heywood.

Christopher Riley, of New Line, Bacup, has been remanded in custody ahead of a court appearance.

Greater Manchester Police said Riley, whose date of birth is 2 April 1977, has been charged with possession of a firearm, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

The charges relate to an incident on Thursday 10 September.

Police said officers pursued a suspect vehicle in Heywood after receiving intelligence about a potential firearm inside the car.

Riley has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today, Saturday 12 September.
