A man has been charged following an investigation into a series of incidents on the Metrolink in recent days.
Ghalib Saeed, aged 31, of Eadington Street, Manchester, has been charged with four counts of administration of noxious substance with intent, and three counts of causing a public nuisance.
He was remanded into custody and is due to next appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court today (25 March 2025).
Detective Chief Inspector Paddy Connell, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “I hope that these charges reassure the public that we take incidents of this nature extremely seriously, and will utilise all the appropriate resources to investigate.
“While a man has been charged and we believe that there is no wider risk, we continue to ask anyone who believes they have witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch with our officers as we continue our work.”
Police can be contacted via 101 or GMP's Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk.
Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
