A man has been charged following a series of concerning incidents in Middleton town centre that led to multiple reports of criminal damage and assault on Saturday afternoon.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the town centre shortly after 4.30pm on Saturday 29 June following several calls from members of the public reporting damage to vehicles. Officers quickly located and arrested a suspect at the scene.
Rhys Hicks, aged 25, of Castlerigg Close, Heaton Chapel, Stockport, has now been charged with six offences. These include two counts of criminal damage, affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating, and causing danger to road users.
The nature of the charges suggests a significant disturbance involving both physical violence and risk to public safety.
Hicks has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 2 July.
Police have not yet confirmed whether the victims sustained serious injuries or the extent of the damage caused to vehicles in the area. Investigations remain ongoing.
