Bury North Jobs Fair saw major employers come together to support young people

James Frith MP visiting Waldmers Wood in Bury with Barratt Holmes

Some of the countries biggest employers came together at the Bury North fair on Friday 26 June to help young people take their next step into work, training, and apprenticeships.

The free event, which took place on Friday 26 June from 10am to 2pm at the Elizabethan Suite, Bury Town Hall, was sponsored by local employers Avoira, Exentec Hargreaves, and MSL Solutions, whose support helped make the event possible.

They were joined by a wide range of employers and organisations from across Greater Manchester and beyond, including Amazon, Barclays, Barratt Homes, Cormar Carpets, DJH Accountants, Greater Manchester Police, Jet2, Lloyds Banking Group, Manchester Airport Group, McDonald's, Northern Care Alliance NHS, Sizewell C, Sodexo, United Utilities and William Hare Ltd.

The event featured local education, skills, and employment providers, including Bury College, Bury Council, Bury Adult Learning Service, Bury Works, Connexions, The Growth Company, Jobcentre Plus, and Bury Youth Service.

Building Futures in Bury North was designed to connect young people directly with employers, apprenticeship providers, and training organisations, helping them access opportunities available locally and build confidence about their future careers.

The event came as the Government accelerates its Youth Guarantee, creating hundreds of thousands of new work experience, training, and employment opportunities for young people across the country, and reaffirming its commitment that every young person should have the chance to earn or learn.

Opportunities were available across sectors including technology, manufacturing, construction, engineering, healthcare, emergency services, aviation, hospitality, retail, accountancy, financial services, and the public sector.

James Frith, MP for Bury North said:

"One of my priorities as Bury North's MP is helping ensure every young person has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Too often, talented young people can struggle to see the pathways available to them or make the connections that help open doors.

"Building Futures in Bury North brings those opportunities together under one roof. Whether someone is looking for their first job, an apprenticeship, training, work experience or simply some guidance on what comes next, this event is designed for them.

"I am incredibly grateful to all the employers and organisations who have stepped forward to support the event, particularly our sponsors Avoira, Exentec Hargreaves and MSL Solutions. Their commitment demonstrates the strength of local businesses and their willingness to invest in the next generation.

"I'm especially pleased that many employers will be attending with live vacancies and genuine opportunities available on the day. That means young people can leave not just with information and advice, but with real prospects for the future."

Ann Barnes, HR and Business Support Manager at Avoira said:

"We're proud to be part of the Building Futures in Bury North Jobs Fair, supporting our local community and connecting talented people with exciting opportunities in technology. At Avoira, we believe in helping individuals grow, innovate and build rewarding careers. If you're ready to take that next step, we'd love to meet you there."
