Elsie Blundell invites men to take part in new survey to support national men’s health review.
Elsie Blundell, MP for Heywood and Middleton North, is asking men across her constituency to take part in a new survey aimed at understanding their experiences of health and care services, especially around mental health.
The survey, now live on her website, will feed into the Government’s ongoing review of men’s health, which closes to public submissions on 15 July.
Blundell said: “All too often, people use phrases like ‘real men don’t cry’. But this time I need to hear from real men, about how we can help them live in better health.”
She added: “I want to hear about their experiences getting support from the health services, especially around mental health. It’s important that services are there for everyone. There are real differences in how men and women access services that we need to be aware of, which is why understanding your experiences is crucial.”
The Labour MP highlighted the broader benefits of good health on education, employment and community engagement: “Good health helps people in my local area thrive, study, gain work and participate in the community. That’s why the NHS was created.”
Blundell said the survey findings will support Labour’s proposed 10-year plan for the NHS, which she described as a route to ensuring modern, flexible and responsive healthcare.
The men’s health survey is available online at elsieblundell.org.uk/menshealth and submissions will be included in her response to the Government’s public consultation before the 15 July deadline.
