St. Andrew’s Church in Dearnley was alive with colour, sound, and 80s flair as Littleborough Brass Bands Association staged a triumphant celebration of music and memory at their Legends of the 80s concert on Friday 22 March.
The event, complete with disco lighting, neon fashion and foot-tapping favourites, transported audiences back to a golden age of pop and power ballads, with all three of the association’s ensembles taking to the stage. The Littleborough Training Band, Boro’ Brass, and the flagship Littleborough Brass Band combined to deliver an evening packed with energy, talent, and sheer musical joy.
Setlists featured bold brass arrangements of timeless classics, from Queen’s anthemic hits to movie favourites like Top Gun and Flashdance. The performances captured the excitement and heart of the decade, with toe-tapping tunes and soaring solos ringing through the church hall to enthusiastic applause.
The show wasn’t just about the music, it was a full experience. Attendees donned their best 80s attire, and the spirit of the era was echoed in the event’s vibrant staging and community buzz.
Speaking after the concert, a spokesperson for the Association said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who took part and helped bring this concert together—from the musicians and volunteers to our brilliant audience. The community’s support keeps local music thriving.”
Littleborough Brass Band, with a proud heritage dating back to 1862, continues to play an active role in the borough’s cultural life. Their next local performance will take place at Hare Hill Park Bandstand on Sunday 18 May, promising another chance to enjoy their celebrated sound.
