Shoppers and visitors are being invited to vote for the famous Bury Market and help make it once again the nation’s favourite.
Bury needs support to continue its successful run at the Great British Markets Awards 2022, run by NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities).
The deadline for voting is Monday 13 December – and you can vote every day between now and then! Go to Vote for Britain’s Favourite Market 2022 – NABMA
Bury Market was granted its charter in the 1440s and now attracts millions of visitors every year and thousands of coaches from across the country.
With 370 stalls on its three sites – the Market Hall, Outdoor Market, and the Fish and Meat Hall – it has won numerous national awards and accolades and was voted Britain’s Favourite Market in 2019.
The future’s looking bright too, as Bury Council has just won £20 million from the Levelling Up Fund to build a new multi-purpose flexi-hall and improve the surrounding market area.
This ties in with multi-million pound plans for a new transport interchange, which will boost the attractiveness of the whole area for generations to come.
Councillor Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture and the economy, said: “Bury Market is the jewel in Bury’s crown, something all our visitors already know. Now it’s time to make it official again, and have the market once more crowned as the nation’s favourite.
“You can vote once a day, every day, up until 13 December – so let’s do it!”
