Investment in Radcliffe taking shape

As of this week, people can visit Radcliffe Regeneration Office to see how designs for the new Civic Hub, Market Chambers and Market Basement are progressing.

The latest on the wider town centre public realm improvements will also be on show.

Radcliffe Civic Hub will be a multi-million pound new building right in the heart of Radcliffe town centre. In 2024 it will provide a permanent new, modern-day home for Radcliffe Leisure Centre and Radcliffe Library, together with wellbeing services, learning opportunities and community space.

The new-build hub will be complemented by wider development projects at Market Chambers and the Market Basement which together will provide integrated shops, food and drink outlets, and space for local events.

Councillor Eamonn O’Brien, leader of Bury Council and cabinet member for regeneration, said: “It really is terrific to see these projects getting going and starting to take shape. It’s this and broader investment in Radcliffe that will futureproof the town and ensure people, communities and businesses can thrive.

“The new hub building will be a modern purpose-built venue, fully accessible to all. It will bring together leisure, library, learning, and wellness services which means residents will be able to access a range of quality services all under one roof in the heart of the town.

“For leisure specifically, the hub will replace the temporary site at Spring Lane, providing larger pools, a larger gym, and more dedicated space for fitness. The move away from Spring Lane will also facilitate development of the new high school which will bring massive benefits too.

“For the library, the move will mean it can operate 7 days a week within double the space, offering a wider range of reading materials, modern areas for reading, relaxation and events, and enhanced digital technology support.

“Do come along to the Radcliffe Regeneration Office to meet our project officers, learn more about these fantastic developments and see for yourself how things are shaping up.”

Radcliffe Regeneration Office is located at 4 Dale Street, Radcliffe M26 1AB. The office is open every Tuesday and Thursday between 10am and 3pm. This week the office will also be open at:

  • 10am to 3pm - Monday 14, Wednesday 16 and Friday 18 March.
  • 10am to 12pm - Saturday 19 March.

More information about Radcliffe regeneration and all the various projects is also available at www.bury.gov.uk/radclifferegeneration.

Radcliffe Civic Hub, Market Chambers and the Market Basement are priority projects within the Radcliffe Strategic Regeneration Framework which is guiding and shaping the future direction of Radcliffe’s growth. Other key projects include the new High School development, a ‘whole town’ approach to housing and a transportation strategy.
