Two arrests have been made following the death of a woman in Bury. Enquiries are currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the cause of death.
Police officers have launched the investigation yesterday morning (Tuesday 26th November).
"At around 4.20am, we were called by our colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service who had attended an address on Harrison Street in Ramsbottom, to reports of a concern for the welfare of a woman."
"Upon arrival, a woman in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers."
A man and woman in their 30s have been subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody for questioning.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of her death.
Detective Inspector Chris Mannion, from the Bury district, said “Firstly, I would like to send my condolences to the family of woman who has sadly died.
“Incidents of this nature will undoubtedly cause shock and distress to those who live and work in the area, we are working to piece together a timeline of events. We believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community."
"I would urge anyone with concerns or information to share, to speak with our officers."
