A prominent former pub and nightclub building is up for sale for £725,000.
The old Royal Hotel on Silver Street, Bury town centre, is being marketed by estate agents Pearson Ferrier. The building, which is around 150 years old, was recently used at ground and basement level by hospitality venue Club Sixty-Six.
Another bar, called Hidden, used to operate from the rear of the building.
There is office space on the first, second and third floors of the building.
Marketing material promoting the sale of the building invites offers in the region of £725,000 for the building.
Pearson Ferrier described the building a ‘great development opportunity’ with vacant possession. The brochure, said: “The property is located in Bury town centre on bustling Silver Street, well placed for bars, shops, The Rock development, tram links and motorway access.
“The property itself is set over four floors with approx. 15,200sqft of internal space. “The most recent uses of the building were a nightclub, to the ground and basement level, a separate bar to the rear ground floor level and office space.
“This is a great development opportunity for a buyer to let this building to give a high percentage yield, or further enhance the building with conversions possible subject to the usual consents for either commercial or residential use.”
The brochure, which described the premises as ‘an iconic building’ also suggested the a conversion could be made so it could be turned back to a hotel.
The property was previously placed up for sale around two years ago with an asking price of £1.2M. The Royal was once at the centre of Bury’s night-time pub scene and in the mid-1990s boasted ‘the latest in sound and light entertainment’.
Since closing under that name the premises became S77 bar and in 2005 became a 300-capacity lap-dancing venue called Temptations.
