Families across Rochdale are being invited to enjoy a lively schedule of free and low-cost events at Rochdale Town Hall during the upcoming February half term.
A full programme of hands-on activities, workshops and performances will run from Saturday 14 February to Saturday 22 February, including a headline family fun day on Tuesday 17 February.
Visitors can take part in circus skills sessions, arts and crafts, storytelling, games, and interactive exhibits throughout the historic building. Highlights include Veg Nannies, allotment-themed activities, RSPB nature stalls, Skylight Circus performances in the Great Hall, and drop-ins by the Rochdale Pioneers Museum and SEND team.
The popular tape measure trail returns for the week, inviting families to explore the hall while learning about its unique features. Most activities are drop-in, but a ‘quiet hour’ from 10am to 11am on the fun day will offer a calmer space for those who prefer a gentler pace. Advance booking is required for the quiet hour.
Cllr Sue Smith, cabinet member for communities and cooperation at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “It will be wonderful to see the dramatic backdrop of the town hall transformed once again into a fun filled children’s playground, and, with most activities free of charge, I would encourage families to come down and get involved.”
The Zodiac Suite will be open for refreshments throughout Tuesday’s fun day, offering children’s lunch boxes for £3.95 as well as cakes, bakes and sandwich options for adults. Families can also take advantage of the Kids Eat for £1 offer in The Martlet Kitchen all week, where up to two children’s meals can be purchased with every adult main meal.
The half term events form part of the council’s wider strategy to make cultural spaces more welcoming and accessible to families.
