Friends of Brandon Kershaw’s family are raising funds to support them following the 19 year old’s tragic death, as police investigate his killing as murder.
A fundraiser has been launched to support the family of 19-year-old Brandon Porter Kershaw, who died following a collision in Bury earlier this week.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that Brandon suffered fatal injuries in a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Monday 20 May. A 38-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of an ongoing investigation.
In a statement issued by Brandon’s family, they described him as “a gentle, kind-hearted young man whose warmth and social nature touched everyone around him”. They said his death has left them “shocked and heartbroken”, with a “deep void” in their lives.
Brandon was a young father, and his death has devastated both his immediate and extended family.
Close friends of Brandon’s mother, Chelsey Maloney, Donna Hardman and Katie Thornton, launched a GoFundMe appeal on Tuesday to help cover unexpected costs and provide support during what they called “their darkest moment”.
The appeal has already raised over £1,000, with a target set at £5,000. In a heartfelt message on the page, the organisers wrote: “We never expected to say goodbye to Brandon, he has been taken away from us at just 19 years old. His life was full of promise, joy and dreams that will now go unrealised.”
They continued: “A son, a friend, a father, a cousin, a brother, a grandchild, a nephew, he was the light that lit up so many lives. As Brandon’s mum’s close friends, we are supporting his family to provide the comfort they need.”
Police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with information, particularly those who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area, to come forward.
