A man has been taken to hospital and four dogs seized by police following a suspected attack in Bury this afternoon.
A man in his 30s has been taken to hospital following a suspected dog attack in Bury involving four "suspected XL Bully" dogs.
The incident occurred just after 12.30pm on Sunday 13 July on Rochdale Road, near the junction with Tinline Street. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the man’s injuries are neither life-threatening nor life-changing.
A police spokesperson said: “At around 12.35pm this afternoon, Sunday 13 July, we were called to a suspected dog attack on Rochdale Road in Bury. Officers attended the scene and located a man in his 30s with non-life threatening/non-life changing injuries. He has been taken to hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made and four suspected XL Bullies have been seized by officers from the Bury district.”
Rochdale Road was cordoned off with a significant police presence throughout the afternoon. Several police vehicles and officers were spotted on the scene, with eyewitnesses reporting that a man emerged from a nearby property with bloodstains on his shirt and trousers.
The seized dogs are believed to be of the XL Bully type, which, under current UK legislation, are subject to strict control measures. No further information has yet been released on the ownership or location of the animals.
The investigation remains ongoing.
