Surinder was well known for his charity fundraising and community work and served on several committees. He leaves his wife, Cecile, who is also a former councillor."
Rochdale Borough Council posted this morning: "We regret to inform you that former councillor and mayor of the borough Surinder Biant has passed away. The former teacher became the council's deputy director of education and was mayor from 2015 to 2016. He represented Spotland and Falinge ward from 2010 to 2018."
Our thoughts and prayers are with Cecile and his family at this difficult time.
