A Rochdale pub best known for its award winning beer garden and standout events is going one step further this weekend with its first ever international food festival, promising a mouth watering lineup of street food, tapas and sweet treats from across the world.
The Oxford in Shawclough is turning its car park into a culinary hub this Saturday, 14 June, welcoming a dozen independent vendors for a one day only celebration of food and drink. From midday until 6.30pm, the family run event is expected to draw crowds from across Rochdale and beyond.
Confirmed traders include local favourites like Little Blonde Bakes, Cugini Pizza, Zakis Street Food, La Puerta Roja Tacos, and Pad Thai Stall. Dishes on offer range from wood-fired pizzas and tacos to top-tier biriyanis, chorizo stews, croquettes, and artisan bakes.
Organisers have set up a large covered area in case of wet weather, with the festival going ahead rain or shine. The pub itself will be open as normal serving up its usual food and drink favourites, including their popular cheese pie.
In keeping with the global theme, The Oxford will also run its own tapas stall alongside a Cruzcampo and sangria bar for a true festival feel. Local names Ella and Tom are also involved, further boosting the event’s home-grown credibility.
While food and atmosphere are guaranteed, parking is not. Organisers are urging visitors to arrive on foot, by lift, taxi, or public transport where possible to ease pressure on the limited space nearby.
A spokesperson from The Oxford said: “If you’re craving pad Thai, hunting down honey cake or chasing the perfect smash burger, there’s only one place to be this weekend. Arrive hungry, Rochdale.”
